Carbon Steel unhardened 1075 300 x 1000 mm

Technical Information - unhardened carbon steel 1075

Basic Information and Applications 1075

With a carbon content of over 0.75%, this material is very well suited for springs and wear parts that are not subject to any corrosion requirements.
In DIN EN 10 132-4, the hardened version of 1075 is approved as a material for springs.
If there is a risk of corrosion and the highest demands on mechanical stress, we recommend the material 1.4031 Mo, which is available from 0.10 to 0.80 mm thick.

Delivery condition

Structure: cold-rolled, unhardened (ferritic structure)
Surface: MA, please inquire about roughness class Ra
Flatness: not specified
Tensile strength: 490-650 N / mm²

The raw material is hot-rolled and sandblasted in thicknesses of 4.0+5.0mm.

Tolerances

Thickness tolerance: DIN EN 10 140 - DIN EN 10 051
Width tolerance: -
Straightness: normal

mechanical Details

Yield strength Rp0.2: approx. 360-460 N / mm²
Elongation A 80: no values available

The highest application temperature should not exceed 200°C. Please note that the values for the modulus of elasticity decrease with increasing temperature.
At higher temperatures of up to around 350°C, we recommend the use of stainless, hardened steels, such as the materials 1.4031Mo (up to 0.80 mm thick) and 1.4034 (from 1.0 to around 8.00 mm thick).

Physical Information

Density: 7,9 g/cm³
Heat conduction: 35 - 45 W / (m ° C) at 20 ° C
Heat capacity: 460 J / (Kg ° C) mean value at 50 - 100 ° C
Thermal expansion:

10,5x10 -6 (between 30 - 100 °C)

11,5x10 -6 (between 30 - 200 °C)

12,5x10 -6 (between 30 - 300 °C)

Electrical resistance: about 0,20 Ohm x mm²/m
Modulus of elasticity: 210 000 MPa at 20°C
Relative permeability µr: about 400 (for the material 1.1231 = C67S hardened)

Processing information 1075

Punching: In its unhardened state, the material 1.1248 is very easy to punch and form. The cutting gap should correspond to approximately 10% of the strip thickness. The corner radii should be at least 0.25 and the hole punch diameter be at least twice the strip thickness.

Laser cutting: The melting of the steel at the cutting edge can lead to a higher hardness and thus reduced toughness at the cutting edge. A cut with a water jet is recommended for critical parts.

Etching: The material 1075 can be etched very well.

Bending: The material 1075 can be bent very well in its unhardened state.

Surface grinding: The material 1075 is magnetizable and can therefore be clamped on magnetic clamping plates of grinding machines.

Welding: Due to the high carbon content of around 0.75%, material 1075 should not be welded.

Chemical Resistance 1075

The unalloyed steels must be protected from corrosion by an oil film. By tinning or galvanizing or painting these steels can permanently withstand corrosion.
