The V4A stainless steel gets its corrosion-resistant properties from the addition of 2 to 2.5% molybdenum. Stainless steel 316L V4A also has a lower carbon content. It has excellent weldability and is also easy to forge. Stainless steel V4A can also be polished. It can be used at low temperatures or up to a maximum temperature of 550 °C (between 120 °C and 250 °C depending on the load).

The cooling of 316L V4A stainless steel with water or air then takes place quickly. The 316L material can be welded well with and without filler material. Its corrosion resistance is not affected by welding.
