This uncured carbon steel is easy to harden and is very well suited for springs and wearing parts to which no claims regarding corrosion are made.

The material 1.1248 can be magnetised and can therefore be clamped very well on magnetic clamping plates of grinding machines.

With a high carbon content of about 0.75%, this carbon steel should not be welded.

Unalloyed steels must be protected against corrosion by an oil film. Permanently, these steels can withstand corrosion by tinning, galvanizing or painting.
